Terms of Service
GERMANY-FIRST LAUNCH DRAFTProduct policy resolved: Fedilo accounts are limited to adults aged 18+ for the closed pilot and initial public release. Minors and parental-consent flows are outside this release. Counsel review remains required for final launch wording. Version: 2026-10-01.
These Terms govern your use of Fedilo. The contracting provider is [LEGAL_OWNER_NAME], [LEGAL_OWNER_ADDRESS], email [LEGAL_OWNER_EMAIL]. Complete the Legal Notice before launch.
1. What Fedilo is
Fedilo is a creator-following service. You choose creators, sources, personal feeds and playlists. The Feed is chronological and finite: Fedilo does not insert recommendation-engine content merely to keep you scrolling.
2. Account and eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old to create or use a Fedilo account in this release. You must provide accurate account information, keep access credentials secure and use the service only where you are legally permitted to do so. Accounts for minors are not offered in the current pilot or initial public release.
3. Chosen creators and source instructions
When you add or enable a creator or source, you instruct Fedilo to retrieve, organize and display content and metadata that the relevant provider makes available through approved APIs, oEmbed endpoints, embeds, connected-account interfaces or provider-hosted URLs. Fedilo may cache limited metadata only where provider rules and law permit it.
4. Third party media and the External Media setting
Accepting these Terms is not the External Media consent. After account creation, Fedilo presents a separate First Run External Media decision that can be declined without losing normal account access. Where that decision is used as consent, the production copy must clearly disclose the enabled provider/purpose set and remain separately withdrawable under Settings → Privacy.
If External Media is enabled, Fedilo may make certified provider-hosted players available across Feed, Playlists and Swipe Mode. The player remains behind a local Fedilo poster until you explicitly press Play; the application does not configure third-party media to autoplay or contact the player merely because content enters the viewport.
If you switch External Media off, Fedilo does not mount certified provider-hosted players. Where technically and legally possible, Fedilo continues to show local metadata, placeholders and an Open original link. Provider account connections, source following and protected-content entitlement remain separate controls.
5. Connected provider accounts
If you connect a provider account, you authorize only the scopes shown in the provider authorization flow. Fedilo does not ask for your provider password. Tokens and credentials are handled as sensitive data and may be revoked from Settings or the provider itself.
6. Third party provider rules
Provider content remains hosted or controlled by the relevant provider and creator. Provider terms, privacy notices, availability rules, regional restrictions, age restrictions, advertising, attribution and player behavior may apply. Fedilo does not guarantee that any provider, creator or item will remain available.
7. Plans, billing and renewals
Paid Viewer or Creator plans, if available, are separate subscriptions. Price, billing interval, plan limits, taxes and payment method are shown before checkout. Recurring subscriptions renew until canceled. Billing is processed through the payment provider shown at checkout. Mandatory consumer rights remain unaffected.
8. Cancellation and statutory rights
You can cancel paid subscriptions using the billing controls and, where German law requires it, an easily accessible online cancellation mechanism. Statutory withdrawal, defect, update, termination and refund rights for digital services are not excluded by these Terms.
9. Acceptable use
You may not misuse Fedilo to bypass provider restrictions, scrape or download content where not permitted, interfere with official players, evade geographic or age restrictions, infringe intellectual-property rights, probe security controls, automate abusive traffic, impersonate others or use the service unlawfully.
10. Intellectual property
Fedilo software, branding and original interface elements remain protected by applicable intellectual-property law. Third-party content belongs to the relevant creators, providers or rights holders. Using Fedilo does not transfer ownership of third-party content to you or to Fedilo.
11. Service changes and provider dependency
Fedilo may change the service for security, legal, provider-policy or product reasons. If a paid digital service is materially changed in a way that triggers mandatory consumer rights, those rights remain available. Provider APIs and embeds can change or be withdrawn without Fedilo controlling that decision.
12. Suspension and termination
We may restrict or terminate access for serious or repeated violations, security threats, fraud, legal requirements or provider-policy obligations. Where law requires notice or an opportunity to cure, we provide it. You may delete your account through the privacy controls subject to the Data Export & Deletion process.
13. Liability
Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded, including liability for intent, gross negligence, injury to life, body or health, or mandatory product-liability rules. For ordinary negligence, liability is limited only to the extent permitted by German law and, for breach of essential contractual duties, to foreseeable damage typical for the contract.
14. Governing law and consumer protection
German law applies, excluding conflict-of-law rules, without depriving consumers of mandatory protections that apply in their country of habitual residence. Any mandatory rules on consumer dispute resolution and court jurisdiction remain unaffected. [VSBG_POSITION_REQUIRED].
15. Public sharing and content moderation
If you publish a shared list, title, description or other user-provided information to the public, you remain responsible for that information. It must not be unlawful, infringe third-party rights, impersonate others, contain malicious links, or violate these Terms. Fedilo may restrict, remove or disable access to user-provided public information when required by law or these Terms.
16. Notices, moderation decisions and redress
Where the Digital Services Act applies to a Fedilo hosting or public-sharing function, Fedilo provides an electronic mechanism for notices of specific allegedly illegal content, processes notices diligently and objectively, and provides affected users with reasons and available redress where required. Fedilo does not use recommendation ranking to decide what enters your personal Feed.
17. Contact and versions
Questions about these Terms: [LEGAL_OWNER_EMAIL]. We keep versioned copies of the Terms accepted by each account and record the acceptance time. Material changes are communicated before they take effect where required.
